Guess whose smile...???

One of the reasons I love first grade the most is because of the coming and going of teeth. I love that one day they are smiling with a loose tooth and the next morning there is a perfect space in their mouth. All of a sudden, I can see a lot more of their tongue. I love to see this change through the year. It reminds me of how much they are changing academically as well. Finally, what I love most about first grade mouths is when they smile, I also see joy. I see happiness, excitement and hope. Their smiles are a gauge for me. It tells me how they feel and if they are happy.

Thank you sweet first graders for sharing your toothful, toothless and everything in between smiles. You bring me so much joy and in return, I smile!
